Hello world!

This is the first post on Travels Without Pants, which is kind of a misleading name. That’s not to say someone won’t end up without pants on but it’s more of a reference to our cat Mr. Pants, who doesn’t like traveling (unlike his owners who LOVE traveling).

Mr. Pants

Ideally I’d like to turn this into a full-time blog documenting our Round the World (RTW) travels but that won’t be for a couple of years yet. We usually take a trip out of the country at least once or twice a year, and in between then we visit different places in the States, so we’ll be using  this to document the travels we do take.

Harmony and I  just got back from Las Vegas and are currently preparing for our trip to Peru that we leave for in ten days! Needless to say we’re pretty excited about going. Macchupiccu aside, we’re hyped for our first foray into South America.  Having done some of Eastern and Western Europe as well as Central America (well actually only Costa Rica twice, and Harmony’s trip to Guatemala and Honduras) it will be really interesting to set foot somewhere completely new. We’ve decided to try Couchsurfing for a portion of our time in Cuzco, less for the savings and more for getting the inside scoop from the locals. When we were in Estonia we used Couchsurfing to meet up with a couple of people and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip.

As I’m typing this it’s pouring down rain outside, which naturally lends itself to daydreaming and planning. I’ve been surfing the net, poring over travel blogs and mentally checking out of work  despite having another full week and a half to go before actually jumping on a plane.

  1. Looks like Mr. Pants is not amused by your shenanigans, that or he needs a nap.
